We continue to study the Plan of Salvation together as a family. I love the books that it is creating as we learn together. A couple weeks ago we studied the creation. I can't help but think that Heavenly Father and Jesus had a lot of fun planning and creating this earth for us. There are so many little things that are just delightful. I have to wonder what they may have created with just me in mind. I love this earth. It is a wonderful place to be!

A Trip to the Fort
This past week we found ourselves in a tourist area on a weekday as a family. With those three components together and with the right amount of cash currently available, we couldn't turn down the opportunity to tour the fort in Fort McLeod. We even timed it right to watch the musical ride.
Breanna had visited the area not too long ago with the school so she led us around showing us different things she remembered seeing. The kids enjoyed feeding the goats, watching the horses, petting the horses and visiting the horses in their stable. They also enjoyed the towers and were amazed at some of the artifacts they saw.
There is nothing like a trip back in time to help one appreciate what we have in our day. WOW! I remember heating water for baths and laundry and having to use an outhouse but, at least the roof wasn't sod and the walls were solid without cracks that let in cold and weather. What a blessing it is to live in our day!
We followed up our museum trip with a family picnic and had a lot of fun playing in the park and enjoying the shade. Good times.

Paper Plates of Rice
I love genealogy. I have scads of it and can't ever seem to get enough. I have even started a blog just for family history. This last week I was introduced to a history book that I never knew existed. I was even permitted to borrow it.
My goal is to digitalize the entire thing. It is going to be quite an undertaking but worth every moment!
There is such great joy in genealogy. I love the stories of courage, hardship and triumph. I love to see the emphasis of family that was present in times past. This particular book is going to be like opening a treasure trove previously unavailable to me. I am so grateful for an uncle who trusted me with such a treasure.

Blessed by Hail
It's been a month since that nasty hail storm that wrote off all our vehicles and caused damage to shingles, windows and more. While it is a pain having to redo some of the things on the house, it has turned out to be a great blessing as well....
Bye-bye car! The car has been threatening transmission problems for years despite how new it was. Thanks to the hail storm we have been able to upgrade to something more reliable.
Adios to the truck as well (not the Toyota - that is somebody else's vehicle) This truck was pretty old and was fast becoming unreliable as well. Thanks to the hail storm we were able to upgrade our truck to a newer cleaner model!
What a blessing that storm was. A blessing in disguise you could say. So many blessings we are receivers of are so easy to overlook because they come in the form of natural and normal every day happenings. I am sure I have overlooked far more blessings than I have acknowledged at the hand of the Lord. It is my hope that I can come to recognize all blessings in life, every day, for what they really are! Even hardships can be blessings. What great comfort and joy there is in that knowledge!

Massive Milestone!!!
Breanna has been wanting to earn this horse for about a year and a half now. We told her that it was hers as soon as she started speaking in a classroom setting. Breanna was diagnosed with selective mutism at the age of 6. That is just a fancy way of saying that she is particular about who she talks to. Last week we went to church in a different ward and Breanna participated in the class, speaking when spoken to. That was a huge milestone and earned her her horse.
Breanna has such a fun personality. She loves to tease but at the same time she is ever conscious of the needs of others. She is very caring and loving and a joy to be around. Breanna has no difficulty talking to people who do not expect her to be mute. But those who do, will probably not easily hear her voice. I am always amazed at the amount of control she has over what she says and who she says it to. What a joy and example she is to me. This last week she participated in her primary class in our home ward as well. She is breaking out of her shell.
I love to watch my children learn new skills and gain confidence in the things they are learning. It is such a blessing to be able to teach them and interact with them every day. I love being a stay at home mom - I have the most important job in the world and I love it - even when it is hard!!! I am so blessed.
