The Best of Awards

Every year at the end of school an award ceremony is held. It is unfortunate to my way of thinking that only a few of the many scholars are recognized for their efforts and hard word throughout the year. Some of my children come home with loads of awards and others seem to be forgotten depending on the year. I see the deep disappointment in their faces every time this happens and it pulls at the heart strings of their parents - so we've done something about it! About 8-10 years ago we instituted a Family Awards Day. Everybody is recognized and honored and each receives a special treat. Of course the candy-gram at the bottom makes the award very appealing. The candy grams are fun because they introduce a little good clean humor to the occasion and the anticipation is always the greatest in what chocolate treat each family member will receive this year!

What a blessing and a joy it is to take a small moment pondering the great qualities each of our children have. Our family awards day gives us a great opportunity to communicate to them how wonderful we think they are, recognize their achievements and encourage them to carry on doing what they know is right. Chad and I also receive the awards. Last year the kids made out our certificates, this year we did the awards for each other. He gave me such a wonderful award it made me emotional. I am so blessed to have such a good husband. What a joy my husband and children bring into my life each and every day!
