A Little Bling!

I now serve as the Cub Master in our ward. I have learned so much about the scouting program in the last few months! What an amazing program. When it is run the way it is outlined it is filled with great things to do, lots of games and fun ways to learn. It's pretty cool. I even started putting our Cub activities on a blog to help keep everyone on the same page! I am liking blogs more and more all the time....
Yup, that's me in my uniform. I love red so I'm quite pleased with the shirt. We don't have neckers yet to wear... hopefully we get them soon. The other day I decided to do a Scout themed craft. It took all of about 5 minutes and it turned out great!
This is actually a pendant. I love the crystals! They were so fun to put on and they added a lot of flair to the wooden pendant. I haven't turned it into a necklace or anything more as of yet. I was going to make a woggle, but I may not need to make one now... so we will see! In the mean time I got to learn how to work with these delightful crystals!

I find it interesting the things I learn and even some of the projects that I take on are very much inspired by the callings I am given. When I served in Relief Society I learned how to teach, really teach and I loved it! It inspired me to study more diligently and as a result I now have 3 books of study materials I have enjoyed putting together. We have a wonderful study group and I look forward to our monthly meetings. Relief Society projects combined with messages from General Conference inspired yet another book of learning and now, I work with kids in the Scouting program and I make all sorts of things! The pendant above is only a sampling of one of my projects.

I love the opportunity to serve the Lord in whatever capacity He needs. One capacity which I will never be released from is that of motherhood. What a grand and glorious calling that is! I have so much fun with my kids.. They bring me such joy as I watch them together and independently  as I listen to their questions and help them find answers, and as we work on projects together whether big or small. I love to just visit with them. They have been a pure source of joy permanently woven into my life. I expect to learn lots more in my role as a mother and as a cub leader. For me, service in the church and service in the home add the 'bling' that the crystals added to an otherwise boring wooden pendant. Without serving others, life just isn't as interesting. What joy there is with a little BLING!
