May was an exciting and family focused month. Among all the excitement we had a special announcement made late after Naomi's graduation ceremonies. For you see, we noticed not only a certain sparkle on Alisha's face, but there was a sparkling ring on her finger to match!!!
Yup, Brandon proposed and of course she accepted. Below is a photo of Alisha showing off her ring. I love how the design on Brandon's shirt almost emphasizes the sparkling diamond on his fiance's finger!!! Following the announcement they told us the story of how the question was popped! Brandon went to a lot of careful planning and preparation to do it just right, and it was perfect. He completely surprised Alisha, who when she realized what had just happened, couldn't say 'YES' fast enough!
The following day it was fun to watch them go off visiting as they spread the good news. That evening we again celebrated Naomi's graduation before they headed back to the city.
We are thrilled to have Brandon joining our family. I think we all love him already, he has made Alisha so happy and he treats her so well. He will be such a blessing to her as they face life's challenges together.
I can't help but reflect back on my own engagement. Here it is, nearly 23 years later, and I am so thankful for the blessing and opportunity I have had to be married. I consider my marriage to be one of my greatest treasures. I have a husband who honors me, who has encouraged me to be the best that I can be and has always supported me in everything I've ever wanted to do. He is so good to me and I thank the Lord every day for bringing him into my life. Chad and I have many blessings, but among them I certainly consider it a blessing to have him by my side as I weather the storms of life. As we have done so, we have found that we do not stand alone together, but that God is right there beside us, sometimes leading us along, sometimes carrying us, but ALWAYS there for us. Marriage is a blessing and a joy and I am so excited for Alisha as she begins this most exciting of all journeys with her true love.
That's so exciting! I fell behing on reading your blog for awhile, but when I saw a bunch of ideas for fall weddings on pinterest, I had to come catch up and see what I had missed. Wish we were closer so I could help!
