June started out with another graduation... a very special one. Naomi graduated from seminary - that's four years of getting up an hour and a half earlier than school starts to attend an early morning seminary class. Naomi contributed to the things that were learned as they discussed the scriptures and the gospel. When it came time for seminary grad, Naomi was honored with the privilege of speaking to her peers. She gave a wonderful message, it was so good that she had me wanting to take notes... however, I just asked for a copy of her talk. ☺
As spring progressed and wedding colors were chosen, I began buying flowers (as always) only this year I found my choices running in the red, yellow, and orange vein. Here is my full car after one such shopping trip. I am so thankful for a good husband who indulges me in this.
Our neighbors got a puppy last year, and she has grown into a very large dog, so big in fact that she had started hopping the fence. She would come into our yard and dig holes in our freshly planted garden - which of course made it hard for things to grow. As a result the neighbor decided to build a new, taller fence. We helped him out, in fact, we built the whole stretch between our yards. Myles was a great help in this project and put many of the fence boards up himself.
I love the new fence! It gives us a little more privacy as well, and it closed in the area under the pergola where Myles hangs his hammock. It only took a week to put it in. What a blessing it is to have such a handy son and husband. I helped a little too as did the girls.
As soon as Naomi had a break from her exams, she went to Waterton with Brandon and Alisha to do their engagement photos. They came back with some really nice photos. They certainly had lots to choose from for their invitations.
At the end of the month, the kids finished up their last year at our local school. The decision had been made that they would transfer to Gershaw, and they were eager and excited about the change. Just before school let out, we all went to Gershaw to get a tour of the school and to meet next years teachers. At awards day in Burdett, we had three of our children receive medals for high grades.
And so another school year ended. We are so pleased with the accomplishments that our children have made this year. They continue to excel not just academically, but in their talents and abilities at home. I love to watch them develop skills, and to find enjoyment in doing so. I am so grateful for the opportunities life gives us to stretch and grow. It happens so naturally that often we are not even aware of it, but one day at a time, one foot in front of the other, we progress as we strive to be better people. What joy the gift of life is.
